Folding Toilet that Cuts Down on Space & Water Use

The Iota Toilet concept is the new it-to-be installed toilets in tiny houses with space-saving, folding feature, and improved efficiency design.

ImageEnter the Iota Toilet, designed as a final- year project by Gareth Humphreys & Elliott Whiteley, the Iota Toilet is designed to save space in the bathroom because of foldable mechanism into an upright position. Moreover, the designers also say that the toilet is designed to cut water consumption by 50% over a standard toilet.

ImageThe Iota Toilet is designed as a movable bowl. When the bowl is down, it can be used as usual. And when finished, the user then lifts the bowl, where the pipes are then connected to a burst of water is released to flush the waste away.

Cubism In Interior Design

Used by Gemelli Design Studio, is it a reminiscent of the cubism art movement pioneered by artist Pablo Picasso. The use of different colors and angles add interest and make a small room seem bigger by distracting the eye from the real proportions.

I find this really entertaining, but would you want to live in a place like this?

Continentale Boutique Hotel, Florence

I have visited Continentale Hotel, Florence, this month and honestly fell in love with everything about it. To start with, staff was amazing! They were REALLY helpful, and were more than happy to assist me with any questions I had to ask. As for the rooms, they were clean, comfortable, and beautifully layed out and decorated that gave you a sense of freshness. (Honestly sometimes through out the day I could’nt get anymore excited to go back to the hotel and just lay there). Finally, as for the roof top, or sky bar, it offers a great “panoramic views of the Ponte Vecchio and River Arno”.

“Owned by the Florentine fashion label Ferragamo, the Continentale is themed to recall Italy’s 1950s, yet reinterpreted in a glittering, modern style throughout the common areas and the rooms”.

“Rooms feature sheer-draped beds, light wood furniture, oak floors and flowing curtains. Bathrooms include Salvatore Ferragamo toiletries”. “Pictures by great Florentine fashion photographers and creations from famous international designers enrich the Hotel with its vibrant and modern 43 rooms and suites”.

Breakfast area

Enjoy a cocktail in the SkyLounge, a terrace offering panoramic views of the Ponte Vecchio and River Arno.

“I was Inspired by the 1950’s, the era of the golden age of fashion when Salvatore Ferragamo was at his pinnacle of success . To achieve the aura of haute couture I used pure white and generous use of space to create a sense of elegence. Th

e use of the clean and essential lines throughout the Continentale symbolizes excellence – a perfect window that allows guests to peer out and almost touch the Ponte Vecchio from anywhere in the hotel”.
Michele Bonan – Interior Designer

I must say that I have travelled a lot, and been to different hotels, but Continentale Hotel is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. Its PERFECT location, friendly staff, clean room, attention to details, and much more, are worth the money that has been paid for my stay there! Ill sure be back!

Looking For A Stress Free Home? Here’s 10 Decorating Tips For You

Want to be happier in your home? Looking for a better living, or a better sleep at night?

Follow these 10 Stress Free home decorating tips, to turn your space into something you have never seen/felt before.

IN THE ENTRYWAY:

  1. Create a feel-good focal point:

“The first thing you see when you enter your home should be something you love, whether that’s a piece of art, a vase of flowers, or a special souvenir, says Stephanie Roberts, author of Fast Feng Shui: 9 Simple Principles for Transforming Your Life by Energizing Your Home. “A beautiful first impression helps you relax from the get-go.”2.  Organize daily debris:

Organize whatever outgoing or incoming items that are in your house. Dont scatter around newspapers, magazines, donations, etc, all around the house, because instead of “thinking relaxation, you’re going to think obligation”. “Have a designated place for every item that enters and exits your house”, recommends Paige Ren, an interior designer in New Jersey. IN THE LIVING ROOM:

  1. Create Space:

Try to reduce clutter as much as you can. Ask yourself what you is neccessary and what is not. Think about picture frames, side tables, magazine racks, and all those other items you have in your living room. Moreover, consider paiting a table or bookshelf the same color as the wall, so that it can “disappear” into the space. Also, painting a room white, or light color, will also make it feel more spacious.2.  Light up locations, not whole rooms:

Use spot lights for areas where you mostly need brightness, such as next to sofas where you read, in the hallway, etc, and as for the over head lights, you should consider putting them on dimmers. Moreover, switch to full-spectrum bulbs, which mimic natural light better than standard ones do. “They cost a bit more, but they’re worth it because they create a more soothing natural atmosphere,” says Dr. Morris.3.   Create pedestrian-friendly paths:

Dont create a “cramped” space in your living room. You shouldnt be banging your leg in the table just to get to the furniture, or somewhere else. Arrange your furniture in a way where its a friendly path to walk in. “Not being able to safely and easily move about produces anxiety”. 4.   Simplify your color scheme:

If your a fan of patterns, and mixing them up, do keep their color schemes simliar. And if your a fan of lots of colors, keep patterns to a minimum. If you have both too many colors and high-contrast patterns in one room, this is going to be difficult for you to relax. Also, dont get too excited about filling your shelves and tabletops too, but instead just place a few pieces that would stand out.5.   Bring the outdoors in:

For a more peaceful environment, do try to get house plants to your home. Or you can even try to hang landscape photography/paintings on the walls, to give u a glimpse of the outdoors.

   IN THE BEDROOM

1.   Use soothing hues:

“Generally, we find cool shades of blue and green and neutral earth tones to be relaxing because they remind us of nature,” says color expert Leatrice Eiseman, author of Color: Messages and Meanings. There is always the option of using accessories to create a peaceful living, such as pillows, lamp shades, etc.

2.   Switch off electronics:

To have a good night sleep, or just have a rest in your bedroom, try to remove all televisions and computers from the room. The light emitted from such devices signals the brain to stay awake. But of course if you like to keep those devices where you sleep, consider putting the tv in a cabinet.

3.   Bring your fantasy to life:

Ever dreamt of what your perfect house would look like? If your more of a tropical island person, where you can add sea shades and tropical touches, or if your more of a mountain or country person? where you can add colors, textures, patterns, etc?
